In the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ibo.org\/sharingpyp\/files\/2018\/06\/FINAL-The-Learning-Community-eng.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">IB\u2019s Learning Community<\/a>, the path to developing international-mindedness begins with defining our own understanding. In the IB\u2019s educational framework, special focus is given to \u201creaching in\u201d to identify our personal traits in relation to others, and \u201creaching out\u201d to see our greater impact on the various communities to which we belong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">With these ideas in mind, Cindy Blackburn and Charlotte Hewlett decided to dig deeper into their personal definition of each attribute of the learner profile. Using the personal, local, and global framework, they developed the Learner Profile Continuum Posters for reaching both inward and outward to build the attributes of international mindedness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group learnings has-background\" style=\"background-color:#fff6f3\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"has-normal-font-size wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-to-use-the-posters\"><strong>How to use the posters:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Have your staff create their own personal, local, and global descriptors and compare them to ours.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use the posters as a tool to start strong discussions with parents and students about what it truly means to exemplify these attributes.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Place the posters around the room and prompt learners to reflect on the attributes they showcase and want to develop.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use the posters as a reflection or goal-setting tool. Students could create weekly goals using \u2018I can\u2019 statements and then reflect on their progress.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use the posters as a tool for promoting student action.
