About the Meet-Up

Are you a new MYP coordinator wondering how to get started in that role? We’ve got you covered! Join us at this virtual workshop to learn about your key responsibilities as an MYP coordinator, discuss strategies for succeeding in the role, and building your network with coordinators from other schools.

The half-day Meet-Up will take place virtually and will feature four sessions. During each hour-long synchronous session, you will be able to interact with our session leaders and the other participants on how to navigate this new territory, gain clarity and exchange ideas. There will also be asynchronous activities that will give you the opportunity to reflect and jot down your thoughts and curiosities between the synchronous sessions.

Meet-Up Objectives

  • Connect what MYP coordinators do with why it is important
  • Explore how and when MYP coordinators manage their responsibilities
  • Identify solutions to common challenges faced by MYP coordinators 
  • Brainstorm on best practices for designing an MYP action plan for your school

Know your Speakers

Session 2: The MYP Coordinator as a pedagogical leader
During this session, we will zero-in on the opportunities, that your day-to-day as a Coordinator presents, to support your teaching teams pedagogically. We will explore situations where you can provide inputs on teaching and learning practices and exchange tools & strategies for building better collaboration at your school.  

Meet-Up Capacity: 200 participants  

Please note that this is a limited capacity event. In order to have meaningful discussions, and provide personalized guidance, this Meet-Up is capped at 200 participants. This interactive Meet-Up is designed for new MYP educators. Join accomplished MYP leaders at this event as they help you unravel the distinctive features of the MYP curriculum and take away ready-to-use resources! 

The half-day Meet-Up will take place virtually and will feature four sessions. During each hour-long synchronous session, you will be able to interact with our session leaders and the other participants on how to navigate this new territory, gain clarity and exchange ideas.  Each session has dedicated time for group activities, as well as guided reflection breaks that will give you the opportunity to share your experiences, and jot down your thoughts between the discussions.

  • Connect what MYP teachers do with why it is important
  • Explore unique learning opportunities that the MYP offers, and what these look like in your subject(s)
  • Deliberate on the makings of a good unit plan
  • Brainstorm on MYP assessment principles and practices

Sheeza Ali Khan
Sheeza has been an IB educator since 2007. She has extensive experience of the IB Continuum and has been actively involved with MYP schools through their authorisation and evaluation journeys She is also an IBDP Examiner and French educator. She is a proponent of experiential learning, multilingualism and promotes a learning environment that is both exciting and rigorous. She is currently the Head of School and MYP Coordinator at Bliss Edify International School, Pune, India.
Terry Linton
Terry Linton is the Assistant Head of Middle School at Keystone Academy in Beijing and formerly the MSHS Principal at Changying campus and Curriculum Director for the Beanstalk International Education Group. Terry is primarily a mathematics teacher but has also taught sciences and individual and societies. Terry has extensive experience with the MYP curriculum and has been actively involved with MYP schools through their authorisation and evaluation journeys. In addition to this, he also does accreditation visits for NEASC and WASC. Terry is the Network Chair for the North China MYP Network.
Barbara Bilgre
An educator for over 20 years with 17 years of IB experience, Barbara has taught DP Biology, ESS and MYP Science and is the current MYPC at Dhirubhai Ambani International School working with a team towards MYP Candidacy. She has successfully led 2 schools through MYP Authorization, and has also served as CAS Coordinator, Head of Department for Science and Year Group Leader. She used to conduct research on the social patterns of wild dolphins, and has run her own elephant behavioral research project in Ghana.
Shameek Ghosh
Shameek is currently working as the Diploma Programme coordinator at Xian Liangjiatan International School, Xian, China. He has 17 years of teaching experience in various schools globally and he has been teaching in China since 2016. He has taught Environmental Systems and Societies, Biology and Theory of Knowledge, ATLs, and CAS and holds a variety of leadership positions in a number of subject areas. He has a Master's degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from the University of Nottingham, UK, and the IB Leadership Certificate.
