As an extended essay supervisor, your role goes beyond check-ins and reflection sessions. For students, you’re their guide, mentor, and sounding board. Most of all, you’re the person who helps them believe they can do this. And with this handbook, aligned to the new 2027 extended essay, we’re here to make sure you feel just as supported as the students you guide.

In this handbook, you’ll get:

  • A breakdown of the two extended essay pathways: subject-specific and interdisciplinary
  • Guiding questions to help students choose and understand the five interdisciplinary frameworks
  • Clear do’s and don’ts for providing effective supervision
  • A sample student reflective statement
