The Educator Showcase at TIES 2022 will feature inquiry practitioners sharing inquiry practices and strategies that have worked for them in their classrooms.

Eligibility requirements
  • Participants can be classroom teachers, coordinators, curriculum designers, learning specialists, technology leads or heads of schools. That is, participants should be currently involved with teaching and learning at a school.
  • Participants can share work pertaining to any grade level(s) and subject(s).
  • Participants should make sure their content is authentic and focuses on inquiry-based, student-led learning.
  • Participants should make sure they have the requisite school and parental permissions for sharing student photographs, videos and work samples.
What we mean by inquiry
As there are a myriad ways to interpret inquiry, we are taking inquiry to mean the following for the purposes of the TIES showcases.

Inquiry is an approach to learning that:

  • emphasizes the learner’s role in the learning process
  • is contextual and purposeful
  • involves a process of exploration
  • leads to student wonderings and discovery learning
  • empowers learners to investigate, connect, synthesise and communicate ideas
  • provokes thinking and tests discoveries to develop understanding
  • invokes meaningful engagement and learning transfer
Application process
Initial application
Fill out the application form and submit a 3-5 minute video showcasing a classroom practice or strategy that exemplifies inquiry based teaching and learning.
Video submission criteria:
The video should make the practice come alive. It should include:
  • Diverse regions of the world
  • Various grade levels
  • Schools of different types
Classroom photos and video clips
Work samples
Input of student voice
The teaching and learning strategies used should be clearly identified in the video through interviews, labelling or voice over.
Please note: To inspire educators around the world, all submitted entries will be hosted on Toddle's Youtube channel and on the TIES 2022 website.
Deadline for video submission: January 20th, 2022
Shortlisting
10 - 12 entries will be shortlisted based on richness and diversity of perspectives. The goal will be to showcase inspiring teaching and learning approaches from
  • Diverse regions of the world
  • Various grade levels
  • Schools of different types
Showcase at TIES 2022
Shortlisted educators will be invited to personally share their practice / strategy with conference participants and to further develop their showcase through a “virtual booth” at TIES 2022.
The virtual booth will be an opportunity for shortlisted educators to share videos, resources, and strategies with conference participants. Shortlisted educators will also get a free all-access pass for the event.
Fireside chat
Shortlisted educators will be invited to participate in a fireside chat with TIES 2022 speakers and inquiry thought leaders Kath Murdoch, Trevor MacKenzie, and Judy Halbert. The fireside chat will be a celebration of inquiry wherein our inquiry thought leaders will talk to participants and
  • Discuss their diverse approaches to inquiry
  • Provoke and invite questions about progressive teaching and learning strategies
