A well chosen global context opens students’ eyes to life outside the classroom, increases student-engagement and nurtures global citizens. Yet, as educators, we often fall into the trap of using global contexts to solely narrow down the scope of our units. This playbook aims to shine some light on how global contexts can, and should be, used in a more purposeful way.
Designed by Lenny Dutton, this playbook identifies some commonly taught content/topics across MYP subject groups. It helps us reimagine how said content might be approached differently using each of the six global contexts. It also provides interesting activities that can be done with students and teaching teams alike to explore the powerful role of global contexts.
