A school is an IB candidate until they demonstrate that they sustain IB standards, practices, and requirements. Once this is confirmed, they are awarded an IB authorization. The process of becoming an authorized school from a candidate school is known as authorization. To maintain IB authorization a school undergoes evaluation cycles every 5 years where they continue to develop themselves across IB standards. This is known as evaluation. IB schools have a 5 year evaluation cycle where they implement a development plan, perform a self study, and undergo an evaluation visit from the IB. The goal of this process is for the school to recognize areas for improvement and put them into action. IB evaluation is not simply an inspection, but a pathway to growth for a school. Yes, you can customize the standards so that they include everything you need to cover. In some cases, schools will undergo joint evaluations where we can provide a combined view of the criteria.
Yes, we encourage you to reflect on how your evidence covers different standards effectively.
Teachers and admins tag evidence to standards on the go. Our dashboard view allows them to see all the evidence tagged to each standard. They can vet the evidence and tag their colleagues in the internal chat if they need to make changes. Admins make the final selection on which evidence is most appropriate to use. Once that’s done they can mark that criteria as complete. Both teachers and admins get a full view on what has been covered and what is missed. This process allows teachers and admins to collaborate in answering the questions - have we covered all standards? And is our evidence sufficient?
